Disaster at Indy

OK, yesterday they ran the over-hyped race at the Brickyardso someone please tell me, HOW could they have been SO unprepared as to supply a tire that could only last for 8 laps safely???...I would assume a fuel run is in the range of 30-40 laps, and typically you want the tire to last a fuel run, how could they have missed by so much ???The Indianapolis Motor Speedway owes everyone in attendance their money back.this was not a race, but a poor exhibition at best.if this had happened at Pocono, there would never be another race run at that track.but because this was at the track with the name all will be forgiven and swept under the rug

I agree. The track has only been there since 1911, and NASCAR has only been there since 1994, and Goodyear has known they were racing at Indy with the infamous COT since LAST YEAR, so how much time does it take to "develope" a tire? Evidently, more time than they had.If NASCAR's Indy tire policy had been in effect at the first 'Southern 500', Johnny Mantz (and his invisible car owner, Bill France) would NOT have won. The rest of the field would have had ample time to change and procure tires, with stops every 10 laps LOL!

ok im stickin my 2 cents in.....nascar and goodyear knew fri. and sat. they had a big problem, i think goodyear should have swapped out all the tires for something harder no matter how it raced .....as long as it raced...... that sure wasnt a race ....im still not sure what to call it......

I'm glad I'm not one of many fans who PAID to see the Indy race! I thought it was a disaster watching it on TV. I can't imagine how ticked the fans were that were at Indy! If they knew prior to Sunday, they should have come up with another plan instead of ignoring the problem. Especially when fans attending the races are down. Oh they told the drivers to quit complaining and that the drivers have it good. Last Sunday sure didn't prove to me the drivers have it good. Glad Jimmie Johnson won. In fact, the last few laps between Jimmie and Carl was the best part of the entire race!
