MAARN:October, 1987:Pg.22; GENE LEE GIBSON COMES HOME FIRST IN 17TH ANNUAL SANDUSKY CAVALCADE: Sandusky, OH. - Sept. 25, 26 & 27 - In Late Model feature action, Dayton's John Vallo took the lead on the 21st lap and held to take home $4,000 prize in the 50 lap feature event. Mark Malcuit, Strasburg, OH, who established a new track record on Saturday, came up from the middle of the pack to grab second. Malcuit blazed around the oval in 17.913 to beat the old record he had set the day before. Vallo, and Malcuit were followed to the line by Bob Sibila, Chuck Roumell and Tim Ice. In Saturday's qualifying rounds, Vallo coud do no better than fourth in the second heat. Sibila joined Steve Peles, Roumell and Jay Sommers as heat winners.
