MAARN:June3,1988-Pg.3-KIL-KARE LATE MODEL CHAMPIONSHIP TO VALLO - XENIA, OH - May 27 - John Vallo of Miamisburg recorded his 11th Late Model feature win of the year at area race tracks when he won the 50 lap Memorial Day Championship at Kil-Kare Speedway Friday night. Columbus driver Terry Humphrey led the first seven circuits around the third-mile asphalt track that was brought to a halt on lap seven due to a three car pile-up. Ed Duncan spun on turn three and was hit head-on by Pat Jones with Tony Wilkins also involved. None of the drivers were injured but all three cars were heavily damaged. Vallo charged into the lead after the restart and rapidly pulled away from his competitors as he lapped all but the fourth place finisher. Second heat winner Dick dunlevy, Jr. placed second behind winner Vallo who earned $1000 in his Stengers Ford sponsored Thunderbird. Third was Robbie Dean followed by rookie Mike Stacy and fifth was Humphrey.
