BACK IN THE 60'S WE used to run almost every night in the summer,I remember one time we were running pretty good and blowed up at middle ga raceway and went home and worked all night to get something put together for fri night. We pulled back out to the track fri night and was running pretty good when bang another one bites the dust.Back home we went and started scrambling trying to find a block to build. There was a big race coming up sun which was just before labor day and i had a friend who had a skeeter with the motor out of it,sooo i borrowed it and put it in a new car that was built but hadnt used yet. the car would fly but lost a plug wire in heat race so i had to run consi finished 4th ,but that put me in feature. green flag and away we go,o i forgot to mention i had to borrow a couple of tires to put on rear too, but away we go . shucks this thing would fly and i had a fast bunch around me that night about 3 laps from the end i lost a front wheel and would you know it helped the handling a lot, anyway we crossed finish 3 wide on a 1/4 mile dirt track and the place went loco , protest everywhere .when i hit the pits i went straight on trailer .cause you couldnt open hood under tire rack. course there were rules there that said no 4 barrel ,no rollers and 305 limit i had all that and more but they were protesting everbody else that night any way tc hunt, bob moore,al smith and charlie burnett were all up front that night i finished 2ond on three wheels to tc that night i had to replace the tires i borrowed, they were wore out, the motor went back into the skeeter and i built a new motor for wed nite.o by the way they protested me that wed night too ha ha memories

how close is the racing family? I was in elberton ga on a sat night and got hooked on right rear tearing the whole assembly out.there was a race that sun in banks county with a big purse. the locals around there all pitched in and we worked all night with someone bringing a housing over free. i made the race and finished in the money,i had a heck of a local pit crew that day and everyone that helped was taken out to a feast that night, the steak hose cut a deal for us u dont hear of that to often these days more memories
