in response to the speed

Bunpertag-- you are still messing with that hornets nest arent you---you can leave the cars alone, heck even take the restrictors off the motors all the cars are the same now soooo--all Brian needs to do is------- totally dirty up the car, all you need to do is take that test cart hey got down in daytona to the wind tunnel and put a dam on it to cause enough drag to keep them at 175mph trust me they will get more out of them but it will hold them down in equal fashion==it was done once before with roof ribs and hardly anyone noticed it, but it slowed them down then--- they can jump out of the draft to pass like old times, with the restrictor plate off. they can stay out long enough to get around and if strong enough get on out..The double file restarts will keep them bunched so no one can get away.. think about it if you been around the sport like from the 60's (and that was not meant to be smart) it can be done--just getting them to do it ---well thats something else------------------------memories

I like the idea of "Dirtying Up The Cars" to lessen the aerodynamics, but I really doubt you can dirty the cars enough to drop the speed down to 175 and still have something that resembles a car. The trucks run faster than 175 even with them being as tall and wide as they are. If you take the dirty car far enough to slow them down enough, what will it look like??? There has to be a better way.If we look back to the early 70's when the big cars roared and the racing was the best I remember, look at those cars. The cars were just beginning to us the aero effects in there design. We had just left the winged cars and went to the 71-74 Chargers. They had a slick body on them along with a lower nose. The Torino's also followed this aero package along with the true fastback. The Chevelle's were a little behind but soon caught up with the Laguna S3. The racing was great, the slingshot was there and that made the finishes unpredictable. The speeds were climbing but not the point that the cars would lift. What has changed??? The enigines are putting out more HP, the engineers are dependant on aero grip instead of mechanical grip, and the speed has climbed to the level that fan safety has dictated the use of the restrictor plates. The COT is a dirty car but I'm afraid the teams have worked with the HP, tires and chasises enough that without a huge change in either the cars or the tracks, that racing like we remember is nothing more than a treasured memory. If we leave the tracks as they are, then the HP must be lowered or the cars have to be slowed with rule changes. I think the simplest thing to do is to raise the nose and get rid of the splitter. Go back to at least 4" of ground clearence at the chin spoiler and lower the deck spoiler back to 2-3". MAKE the teams more dependant on mechanical grip. But I still think the biggest problem with the sport is the amount of money todays teams must have in order to compete. I wish we could have sponsorship limits and get back to racing like it use to be. But how do you go to team owners and dictate the amount of money they can use and where to spend it?Here's an idea... lets wait a little while longer and NASCAR will be in the dumps and a new LEANER NASCAR will rise and maybe they will be smart enough to keep the money from ruinning the sport.
