replica or real thing

Like it or not every one does not have the original hanging from the rafters,I surely do not, because I know where my original is setting ! When one attempts to recreate something to "look" like the original I commend them for the effort and if painting and numbering a car to look the part is still ok . But dont down play something thats in a picture for recreation or setting in someones garage with dust on it as poor copy, some may not be blessed with the talent another may have the time or the funds to do all needed. Anytime I see an old car either original or recreation I look and smile because whether its correct or not its a try to fulfill something that they envision in their mind. Hanging a sign on it as the real thing well let Mike Lajoy give it a go around then we will know! But as Donnie told me the other day Bobby knew the car was not the real thing, but it was there for show and for him to set in and take a break and "S M I LE "

Johnny, my coupe is only "real" to me and for me. There's nothing about it authentic. It's a tribute to a childhood memory and it works for me. Beyond that, don't make much difference.

Bobby, he's the real thing and by sitting in the car has made "it" the real thing. Coke, now that's the Real Thing! My car is a poor replica of the Mason's Garage Sportsman Chevy that ran at Daytona in 1959. It's a replica only in the paint scheme but it don't matter to me or to someone that would like to get a glimpse of what the car may have looked like back in 1959 when Carl Burris started 7th and ran as high as 3rd behind Curtis Turner before losing it's real axle.

Johnny, I think replicas are great! They are a labor of love and I think take a fond memory someone has and gives it a face. I enjoy them and especially talking to the owners.Pete
