I was mostly into short track racing at that time. I got to figuring out that you could go out and run sixty to seventy races a year to win twenty or thirty features a year, you could make more money than half of the Cup drivers. You know what I mean. From twentieth on back. I could make a good living running the short track, I didn't have to be an 'also ran' to be a Cup driver. I wasn't gonna do that. It's like kissing your sister. It's nice but it doesn't mean anything. To run fifteenth just to say I'm a Cup driver is bullshit as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather go out and run a thirty lap feature on a half-mile track somewhere and say I won rather than finish twentieth in the Cup stuff.
