I woulda guessed Pearson but I looked it up and Dustin is correct.I also woulda thought Ralph had run a GN race earlier than 61, just goes to show I'm not always spot on with my history.

RALPH EARNHARDT DID RUN G-N BEFORE 1961. HE DROVE 1 G-N RACE AT HICKORY IN 1956 FOR DePAOLO RACING, AND IN 1957 HE DROVE 9 RACES....1 FOR DePAOLO AND THE REST FOR LEE PETTY. HIS FIRST RACE (HICKORY 1956) RALPH STARTED ON THE POLE AND FINISHED 2nd TO SPEEDY THOMPSON. IN 1961 HE RAN FOR OWENS AT ATLANTA IN MARCH BEFORE DARLINGTON AND FINISHED 3rd IN THE 500 JUST BEHIND WINNER BOB BURDICK AND 2nd PLACE REX WHITE.
