For years we used to make our self available on tues nite and thurs nite for an hour because there were two shows that came on on the radio about 7pm here in ga.One was a recap of the past weekends racing of NascarThe other was a local show that told of the winners and loosers around the southeast short tracks, mainly in ga,al,tn.and the Carolinas. That was mainly the mainstream feed we all played off of to figure where we were going to race the following weekend because purses were told .To go even farther some of the tracks back then put a bounty on a driver that had been winning real regular for whoever outran him there was an extra monetary amount placed on winning purse winners amount. Several drivers we talk about regular had that bestowed upon them and it was an honor to carry. As life progressed the track promoters changed and the driver pool rotated and now you have these cars that are so fickle if bumped they fall off fast,so the rubbin game changes now.Now here we are in the 21st century and all are looking at what used to be our bread and butter series going to the wayside and the grandaddy race is fixing to emplode. Then you run across this tues and thurs broadcast that falls into the same time frame as in the olden days. But going one step further now, we are growing again in a different way, we are a new society thats living in the present but remembering the past in a way thats never been done before. We have the same two shows again but now they are formatted differently and are available worldwide and tracks from the past are once again being used today for everyone to enjoy and even race on again. Tracks that used to be oil soaked for many years in the deep south are going to clay this winter and tracks that were paved are going back to dirt. Why some asked, fan base is the bottom line, Dublin 441 speedway was dirt then paved and fan base went to a handful. Now its back to dirt and the stands are full. So any way you spell it we are a sport that can survive on the past today and in the future. The bottom line is we have today once again what we had in the past, look at the people in RR, then listen to the ,not one,but 2 weekly shows. And look at the tracks that are blossoming again due to the growing need of local calling. So now here we are coming onto the holiday season and a new year. That year is going to be the beginning of a new racing family . Not a France society but a society controlled by you the Racer, the Spectator, the Fan, the Owner, and mostly by the desire to just race and have fun again like we did back when.Everybody body have a great HOLIDAY and M E R R Y C H R I S T M A S and Happy New Year
