at speed on old Birmingham speedway .. you ever raced where the flagman was down on the track and being personal with each timetrial?

When Reading Fairgrounds started racing in 1955, the flagman stood on the track to start the heats & features. He did this when they switched to modifieds., but quite when he got hit by a race car.
