Got my big break during the 1963 U.S. Fuel & Gas Championships (aka Smokers March Meet) at Bakersfield, CA, when the event's two regular announcers got food poisoning.

Were you the Coke announcer in 1969 when these guys came to Alton?

Yes, I was! As I recall, the track announcer's name was "Dorcey" or "Darcy". Do you remember his name?

His name was Dorsey Matheny, a local Alton guy. From what I hear he had a very hot wife, but that's for another website. Can you help me identify the guys in this photo? Mike

As concerns Dorcey. He "chewed" and would announce with one hand holding the mike and the other a Pepsi cup into which he would spit the juice. Every once in awhile he'd forget which hand held which! It was at that point I decided to always carry my own mikes - just in case.
