Here we are in a new year, and new exciting things are in front of us.Some things in the past are best to be forgotten; then again some things in the past are to be remembered! Racers Reunion helps us to remember the past and the importance of the heritage of this sport. To this, I say a heartfelt thank you Jeff and crew. This is what racin' is all about, friends and making new friends. It is not about some fancy Wall Street business deals! It is about building and racin' your car. It is about Saturday night, Sunday afternoon shootouts. It is about good times and a little rubbin' and tradin' paint too! But mostly it is about fun and friends. It is about the fans as well!!Racers Reunion offers that point of contact where we as fans can make contact with those drivers of the past. The names and faces of the real racers. The ones that we grew up listening about while listening to the races on the AM radio stations. The ones that we would hear bits about when ABC's Wide World of Sports would cover bits of a race in between figure skating from Finland. For the most of us this was watched on a black and white TV set, with aluminum foil wrapped around the antennas on back of the TV, to get a fuzzy picture at best.Racers Reunion offers us to be a part of that past, and relive it again through pictures and video and yes meeting these folks in real time at events to honor them. I was asked a few months after joining Racers Reunion, by Jeff Gilder to serve as the Racers Reunion Chaplain and head up the Racers Reunion Outreach. This was a great honor to be asked by him to do this. It was also a great honor to have been asked by Mike Sykes to hold the benediction and prayers at the Old Time Racers Group banquet in Hillsborough, NC at Occonnechee Speedway, a few months ago. I carry these memories near and dear to my heart now.I am so impressed and warmed inside by how nice and friendly all the legends of this sport are!I have met many of the older drivers and their families. Even though, I never raced, (except illegal stop light to stop light racing back in the late seventies and early eighties, in my 69 Chevelle SS 396, as a teenager in high school.) I feel like I am a part of the families of racing. To this I say thank you Jeff and the crew at Racers Reunion as well as Mike Sykes and the fine folks at Old Timers Racing Group. I also want to say thanks to Bill Magnum and his awesome work on his books to keep racing roots strong.I want to thank those other folks who have written about and are keeping the history of this great sport going; i.e.; Perry Allen Wood, Jeff Gilder, Paul Lewis, Gene Hobby, Sybil Scott, Reb Wickersham, Mike Sykes and all the others as well.God Bless each and everyone,Pastor Ken SharpeRacers Reunion ChaplainLevel Cross, NC

Nice words, Pastor Ken!! You are very welcome! I'm glad we're all hooked up in this RR deal. To me its (almost) as much fun as rubbin the numbers off your doors and passing on the last lap for the win. I love the connections, the stories, the pictures, and most of all the people. Looking forward to a great 2009!! Thank you, sir, for filling a very important role for us all.Jeff

Thank you Billy. I have seen you on the interview on RRTV. I also saw you at the Old Timers Racers banquet in Hillsborough, though we did not have a chance to chat. You said that you worked for Petty Enterprises back in the mid 70's. You probably knew my Dad then. He came to the shop every Friday to service the Lance vendor in the shop and oatmeal cookies and nabs in the engine and dyno rooms. He got to know Richard and Maurice very well. I have memories of working with him on his Lance truck some during the summer months and going to the shop.Pastor Ken
