Actually Mike, I thought it was Morgan, too. Harold Carmichael, who sent a lot of the pictures I have in my collection to me, says this is "Terrible" Tommy. He said Ellis did drive this car a few time. By looking at the helmet, it looks like it could be a "sawed-off" guy like Tommy...LOL.Glad you enjoy the pics Mike. A lot of good guys helped put together what I put on this site. They are not all mine by any means. Everyone who contributed to my collection just wants to share their pictures because they know there are guys like you and me who dearly love old LMS pictures.

Hello Kenny. Yeah I agree when I saw the pic and the driver inside the car I thought it had to be Tommy. In every picture I ever saw of him he is sitting the same way like in this pic. And also I am another that loves these pics. At the time I was just a kid, the very first race I saw was in '79 at S. Boston when I was 4. And it was a LMS race. I loved these races couldn't wait till those guys came to Orange County and South Boston to go see them. The one thing I will always remember about that race in '79 the lights went out during the middle of the race and you could the hear the cars let off the throttle and stop. 2 minutes later the power was back on and there were cars everywhere. It was a funny sight. That race was a memory that always be with me.

I hate I never made it to South Boston back in the days of LMS. I got all of my LMS memories from Franklin County and Martinsville when I was younger. Needless to say, we all got to see the same drivers and they had the same effect on a lot of us.As long as people keep asking for them, these great pictures are going to keep showing up.

If you ask me those are the unsung heroes of Nascar. Heck until I was about 18 years old I really didn't care much about the Winston Cup Series I mean I liked it but my favorites were LMS (BGN starting in '85) and the Late Model Stock cars along with Street,Pure and Mini Stock classes that Orange Co. and South Boston ran.

Hey Kenny,It is the terrible one............and the track is either Langley or Southside, Seen him run this car many times. It was Lindy Whites car.

This isn't Langley... I am about 100% sure this is Southside, The boiler plate wall gives it away... Langley had Gaurd Rail around the outside.

Thanks for the track clarification Billy. I was not sure but the sand in the infield made me guess Langley.

Tommy the Terrible @Southside...head lean is the give away, Morgan Sheperd wrecked this car hard in practice at Martinsville after winning pole for spring 150 lapper...it looked like a whole front clip at least if not totalled, i never saw that #7 with that paint scheme or flat front GrandAm nose.
