Music and Racing in the Sixties

I remember the mid to late 60s and during the breaks and Intermission that song by CCR Proud Mary which seem to be a racing song to me.

In the pits my drivers would be fixing up their cars with the sights of arc-welding and the sound of impact wrenches hammering away and in competition with the music and PA system.

There was something about those hybrid Late Models and Sportsman rides with their wide slicks, painted on Cubic Inch Displacements like 427 and 454 were common sights with AC Delco, STP and Troyer built modifieds. They were the Halcyon Days but a new era of that kind of racing will assuredly make a return much like the Legend Cars, old classic Chevys and Fords highlighting programs.

Make sure you get out to the local tracks and buy from the sponsors of the race tracks to help them too.Have fun!
