Drag Strip Encyclopedia

I am compiling the most comprehensive encyclopedia of U.S. drag strips ever produced online. I'm including sanctioned, independent, outlaw, and old speedway tracks, too. It is still a work-in-progress, but I have thus far entered most of the drag strips that opened at least fifty years ago. It is organized by state, with chronological listings and alphabetical entries. Each entry gives a capsule history, years of operation, links to old YouTube videos or radio ads, a link to submit your memories of drag strips, old newspaper ads, etc. My goal is to include all drag strips that opened before 1977, that is, strips that opened 40 years ago. Help is most welcome on this big project. If I'm missing some tracks, I'd like to know about them. Also please consider adding your memories of drag strips where you either raced at or attended. It is located at: http://dragstriplist.com

I tried to add a Lakeland, Florida drag strip to your site (contact section) but got error message, that I know was open in early 70s as I raced there. Lakeland International Raceway was a mile strip then that was shortened several years later to 1/8 mile as some of the shutdown area land was sold for industrial development. I do not know exactly when it original opened (1970 maybe) but it is still in operation today as 1/8 mile track under name Lakeland Drag Strip. This track was often confused with the Lakeland International Raceway in Memphis Tennessee (closed 1979) back when they were both open during 70s.There is a newspaper clip in my pictures concerning that track from 1974, feel free to use if you wish.
