Made In America Whelen 300 Weekend September 26th and 27th At Martinsville SpeedwaySeptember 9,2009Martinsville,Va.By Mike Ray and Ms.HotrodThe finest stars and cars of the Nascar Touring Series,Whelen Modified Tour,Whelen Southern Modified Tourand the Nascar Limited Sportsman Division will roar into beautiful Martinsville Speedway for a fun filled weekendof up close, in your face racing excitement on September 26th and 27th,2009.Martinsville Speedway and it's rich history has included double header events in the past including the Dogwoodand Cardinal race events drawing cars and teams from Canada to Florida.This year's Whelen 300 will pack thepits with Modifieds and Limited Sportsman cars from up and down the Eastern Seaboard.The Nascar Limited Sportsman Superstars will be making their 1st apperance at the Mighty Half Mile speedwayand this will be like the Daytona 500 for these hard chargers.The weekend starts for race fans on Saturday whenModified practice gets going at 10:00 am thur 12:00pm followed by Limited Sportsman practice from 12:00 pm until 2:00pm.Qualifying for the Whelen Modified Tour gets the green light at 2:30 pm with the fastest 37 cars locking in startingpositions 1-37.The Nascar Limited Sportsman drivers will time trial at 4:00 pm with the fastest 26 cars earning positions 1-26.Sunday will be an action packed day with the world famous Modified autograph session at 11:30 am followed by two 25lap qualifying races for the fast and furious Nascar Limited Sportsman Division.The top 5 finishers in each race will advance to the 50 lap feature event.The Pre-Race activities will start at approximately 1:15 pm followed by the Made In America 300at 1:30 pm with the Mighty Mods running 200 laps.2008 Whelen Modified Champ Ted Christopher,Plainville,Conn.,ToddSzegedy,Ridgefield,Conn.,Ryan Preece,Kensington,Conn. and a host of the finest northern stars will square off againstthe Whelen Southern Modified Tour stars including Andy Suess,the Myers Boys,Walnut Cove,NC and James Civali,Meriden,Conn. who is now driving the Coors Light Hillbilly Racing

YES the memories of the Cardinal and dogwood classics are still fresh in my memory since i got out of it in 81 The "Mod squad" and the LMS division really put on a show back then, You think they would broadcast this BUT that would be out of character because it is not one of the "TOP 3 touring series, can you say "BULLCRAP" just remember to say Thank you "ASSCAR"!!!!!!
