Brian King Doubles Up At Frostbite Winter NationalsMarch 23,2010Rougemont,N.C.By Mike Ray and Ms.HotrodThe 2nd Annual Josh Jenkins Frostbite Winter Nationals winner Brian King,Gibsonville,N.C.had a perfect day Saturday grabbing victory's in both modified features at OCS.The former ASA/SMART Modified Tour champion started the day out on a positive note winningthe Ace Modified feature event over Roy Cook.Barry Moize,Larry Cook and Jason Cook roundedout the top 5 finishers.Race Winner King thanked his fans,crew and family from victory lane.The 600 Inc. Racing Legends feature was a brother affair with Timmy Hill holding off Tyler Hillfor the Victory.A spin on the last lap allowed Tyler Castle to roar under the stripe in 3rd place.The Bandolero feature saw Calvin Meadows victorious when the checkered flag flew.Meadowsheld off Matt Murphy and Grayson Massey to score the win.Tate Fogelman and John Meekscame home in 4th and 5th place in the feature event.The 125 lap Josh Jenkins Memorial event for tour type modifieds was a wild event with numerouslead changes thought out the event.The action packed race was red flagged on lap 7 when defendingrace winner,Matt Hirschman,Northampton,Pa.,Jason Meyers,Walnut Cove,N.C. and GeorgeBrunnhoelzl III wrecked in turn 1.Hirschman and Brunnhoelz III were done for the day but Meyers wasable to continue after the event was restarted.The lead swapped back and forth between Burt Meyers,James Civali,Meriden,Ct.and Ted Christoper,Plainville,Ct.with all 3 drivers swapping the lead.As thelaps wound down,after pit stops,King's car was strong,handled excellent and roared into 1st placeafter a late race caution.King turned back all challengers in the closing laps to score one of thelargest victories of his career.King thanked his fans,family,crew and C&C Promotions from victorylane.By the Grace of GOD and 600 horsepower,until next time,thank you for supporting local shorttrack racing.
