Pee Wee Jones past away at about 10:30 pm on Dec 24th in Clemmons NC due to complications from a stroke, cancer and a bad heart. Our most sincere thoughts and prayers go out to Shirley, Tim and Mike at this sorrowful time. We as a club need to uplift this family in prayer at this time. Pee Wee and shirley has been a huge part of the Old Timers Racing Club since its inception. With out people like Pee Wee and Shirley we could not continue. Pee Wee ran all up and down the east coast when Nascar started for nearly 25 years he ran in all classes of racing from jealopy cars to Grand National now Cup. His highlight was that he won 6 championships at Bowman Gray Stadium 5 of those consecutive in the 60s. That is a record that still stands today . We will miss Pee Wee very much he was always a major attraction at all the events we attened. The racing world lost a BIG man on december 24th 2008. One of the finest people Ive had the pleasure to know. He has gone to the racing world with God speed.Rest in peace Pee Wee. Your friend Mike SykesFuneral arrangements are incomplete at this time. I will post them when notified.

Pee-Wee was a hero of mine, and the reason why I race at Bowman-Gray Stadium today. I can remember being mesmerized by his racing stories when I first met him at the go-kart races in the mid-eighties. From there, I can remember the first time I went to the Stadium with Pee-Wee & Tim. From the fans reaction to seeing Pee-Wee, you knew he was a Legend. And Pee-Wee is just that, a Legend and he will be greatly missed.

I remember Pee-Wee well ! In my first amateur race at Bowman Gray(1950 I think) he and I wrecked in the second turn. It was my first of many wrecks.Back in the pits after the race he and I had a frank talk. Two weeks later we became friends.

I met Pee Wee at the Hillsbourough (Occoneechee) show and when I mentioned that I remembered reading about him his eyes lit up and I had became more a friend than a spectator in an instant.~Pee Wee, We will miss you~

To the family here. I had the chance on a few occasions in the past to chat briefly with Pee Wee. He was a fine man, and I greatly enjoyed chatting with him.We know that he is at Home now and at rest. The memories are fresh now and time will pass, the memories will fade a bit, but do not ever erase those memories.Remember now, that he is at home with the Lord and at rest, there is no more suffering or hurting in his body, and with that all is well.I mentioned in the other post aboout this, the song that came to my mind when I read about Pee Wee's passing is the Vince Gill song "Go Rest High on That Mountain". This is avery powerful song, when you listen to the lyrics.May God be with the Jones family during this time of transition. His mighty hand be upon the family bringing comfort and peace. He brings Faith, Hope and Love, but the greatest is Love. Love each other now and comfort each other now.God Bless the Jones family,Pastor Ken SharpeRacers Reunion ChaplainLevel Cross, NCcell-1-336-456-6046
