ORANGE COUNTY SPEEDWAY MODIFIED TEST SET FOR FEBRUARY 17THNew Tires and Old Surface Promise Great Racing(King, NC): Officials from C & C Racing Promotions and the Southern Modifeid Race Tour have announced a test for the open-wheel Modifieds at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC for Monday, February 17th. The test will serve as a base-line for all teams entered in the event for things such as gear ratio and tire compounds and will feature cars from the North and South. We wanted to get a feel for where the teams need to be with rear gear ratios and possibly some spring and sway bar combinations and especially the new tire compound we plan to use for 2009 on the SMRT Tour said tour promoter, Randy Myers. It has been several years since the Tour Type Modifieds raced at OCS and to have a chance to get some laps on the track will be a great benefit for everyone. The SMRT Tour has used the same tire compound for several years and with the Whelen Modified Tour moving to a new tire, we felt this would be the perfect opportunity to make a change as well. Hoosier has provided a solid tire for the Modifieds for years and the cost factor is really big to the teams in this area so we wanted to try to improve on what we had plus try to make for a better show for the fans. Mondays test will give us a chance to evaluate the new compounds on an older surface. We feel the new stuff will give the drivers a better feel for the track and car and increase competition throughout the field, Myers said.Three teams will take to the OCS pavement shortly after Noon on Monday. Teams scheduled for the test include the Hillbilly Racing Team from Westfield, NC with driver Ronnie Silk. Silk is coming off a great week at New Smyrna Speedway with a win in the 50 lap John Blewett Memorial and several other strong runs during five nights of action on the fast Florida half-mile. Also scheduled for the test is the Myers Racing #4 Modified with Jason Myers at the controls. Myers had several good runs during the 2008 season. 2008 North-South Shootout winner, Burt Myers, will also be on hand to share some seat time in the #4 Modified. 2001 SMART Modified Champion, Jay Foley, will also be on hand with the Stuart, Virginia based #57 Mod.The track will be open at 12:00 Noon to fans in the grandstands as well as any interested teams. Modified teams will be permitted in the pits.

Man it is great to have the modifieds back at Orange County. Plan on being there. Glad it's going to be a North-South event. Open wheel modifieds the best racing in Nascar.
