Ron, this accident was what brought about "pit road" as we know it today. Prior to this the pits actually were right on the track. Bobby Johns' car literally flew through Joe Lee Johnson's (winner of inaugural World 600) pit stall that day and killed his crew chief and another crewman instantly. I was 12 years old and was sitting directly across from where it happened. It was a scene I will NEVER forget!

Ron, yes I vividly remember the "horrible" MacTavish crash, I was there that day also. I also witnessed Charlie Jarzombek's fatal crash at Martinsville. That happened in front of my suite that I had there at the time. That being said let's change the subject. Thanks for the offers and I may just take you up on them. I really enjoy all of the pictures you post on this site. I've got some old photos somewhere, I've just got to locate them. My dad and I owned several beer distributorships over the years (Miller) and needless to say we were VERY involved in racing. Dad was standing at the start/finish line in 1949 when Strom Thurmond cut the ribbon opening Darlington so we go back a LONG ways. I actually sponsored Butch Lindley when he won a race at Martinsville driving for Emanual Zervakis. I love the sport and that's why it is tearing me up to see where it is today versus yesteryear.
