This is the 1st qualifying twin with Curtis 'Crawfish' Crider in the 62, Pete Stewart in the 57 and Jim Hurtubise in the Petty 42. Herk finished high enough to make the 500. However, Jim Paschal in the Petty 41 did not finish high enough in the 2nd twin to make the 500. The Pettys pulled Herk from the 42 and put Paschal behind the wheel for the big race.

just got curtises book today he included some of the posts i posted. about the cop and the flashlight and the fight our Roy Tyner crew had at atlanta. some things he wrote about were a stretch about some things that like how soap castles got his name and a few others but over all it brought back a lot of memories.
