Well, this is not Cheraw Speedway - but this is part of the story. Left to right, Lynn Ingram, Jimmy Ingram, Willie Cassidy. May 15, 1980, Dover, Delaware, at the end of the running of the 500-mile Mason-Dixon 500. This was Daddy's first-ever race on a track where he drove in excess of 100 mph. During his early racing career - 1940s and 1950s - speeds were not that high. He always wanted to go it again after that, so we built this car in 1980; it was an aerodynamically outdated flat-nosed Chevelle that once belonged to Baxter Price. He made it go, though, and after failing to qualify in Darlington due to no brakes and in Rockingham due to a soft-cast cam, he qualified next to last for this Dover race and finished 15th - ahead of both Cale Yarborough and Darrell Waltrip. This one of the best days of the lives of everybody in this picture.
