Actually Ed that was something invented back in the 70's to get grip when cornering and create down force when in a straight shot. The edges were curved up to create a straight line approach to the line and feathers actually hide a new type of homing device that usually locks in on the southern style cooking of fine foods especially at the outings around and inside a racing reunion or other places where fine foods are prepaired. Richard started this new type of control but Mr Leeming came along and stole his thunder so now you know the rest of the story!!
