Sam Smith
My 12 year old son is wanting to get some information about his great-uncle, Sam Smith. Thanks to Barbara Scott, we have found some pictures and articles. Anyone with anything on Sam they would like to share, we would be greatly appreciative.
What era did he run? Do you know of any tracks that he ran and what part of the country? This would be very helpful information.
Sam was from Union, SC. He ran during the 1960s...Piedmont, Greenville Pickens, Rutherford, etc...basically the southeast.
You might contact JB Day there in Easley he has more photo's than anyone I know and he is a racing figure in that area and most likely knew him personally. He lives about a mile behind Greenville Pickens Speedway. Good Luck in your venture..wish I could be more help.
