The Historic Speedway Group did an incredible job with the hosting the 3rd Annual 2009 Historic Occoneechee-Orange Speedway Celebration of the Automobile Car Show & Racers Reunion. There were some AWESOME sponsors represented at this event and dynamic history makers.Even though my family and I were only able to be in attendance for the last 3 hours of this great event, it is amazing how much information was fed and digested at that historic site. It was like enjoying a BIG family reunion with all of the greatest dishes like some country ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, iced tea and a hot apple pie. It was mmm, mmmm goodTim The Legend Leeming was making sure that those surveys were filled out while making rounds talking to some of his Racers Reunion chat buddies. Jeff The Unstoppable Gilder was conducting interviews, making rounds and even played a little music. Ann Mrs. Legend Leeming was making sure everything stayed in order and even found time to entertain my 5 year old nephew Brandon. Jay Sellers was trying to keep cool and playing a little music as well. It was a treat hearing him play that harmonica. I caught a quick glimpse of Dustin Gilder and Ray Lamm everybody was on the move. The highlight for me was finally meeting and being able to talk to Sybil Scott (Wendell Scotts daughter). She is such a humble human being and a very sweet person. It was great viewing some of the family pictures and briefly meeting Mrs. Mary Scott (Wendell Scotts widow). I was able to take a few pictures, hear a few stories (especially when Dink Widenhouse & his wife walked over for a few minutes), and just take in the ambience of the event.Lastly, it was great to be able to walk down to the track and get a feel for what dynamic racing took place there. The restoration of the ticket office and outhouse were great to see. If I had a huge tent, camping supplies and it was allowed I may have just stayed there for a little while (like a few days).Enjoyable and once-in-a-lifetime are two of the many words that I would use to describe what transpired during my attendance at this fantastic event. I am sure that next years event would be even better. What A Wonderful Weekend Indeed!

Mike is right, we just have to keep Mike from worrying so much about the speed of the cars. Dont worry Mike. My dad he makes sure everything is alright with Bill Crowther. But I had a great time, Sunday. Hopefully Unique you can come to next year for both days. I enjoyed all aspects of the show. I enjoy meeting and talking with the Legends of this great sport and the people like you Unique that love racing. I have made so many great friends in the past 2 years that I think in hindsight that at one time I thought I would never be able to talk to these people. But my offer still stands for next year or any other time you want to come to the track, Unique. I will give you a personal tour just like I did for Tim "The Legend" Leeming. And lastly I thank everybody that was a part of this great show this year and last 2 years. Our Group (HSG), Mike Sykes & The Old Timers Racing Club, Jeff & Dustin Gilder with RacersReunion, and Unique,Tim Leeming and his wife, Jay Sellers, Perry Allen Wood and the other people with the Columbia Speedway project and of course I cant forget my friend Billy Biscoe. And all my other friends I have made on this great site. Sorry for being long winded I sound like the Sprint Cup drivers now thanking everybody after a race.

Mike, I wish that I could have stayed on Sunday but I had to keep the 5 year old and he was ready to get back home to his mom (lol)Thomas - thank you for being so kind to me and my family. I have enjoyed talking to you online and talking with you at the event. (I hope you have been getting some rest because you all worked very hard to make the event a success) You are such a humble being and very passionate when it comes to ensuring the showcasing of racing's historic venues as well as personalities. Hopefully, I will be able to be back next year for the event - only time will tell :o) Anyway, take care and I will talk to you soon!

I'll be walking with a cane but I really would like to go. Have to go to hospital for all my intial typical stuff before surgery on Wednesday, I will see if its possible for me to come.
