as for the 59 olds petty drove to victory, the next year 1960, Roy Tyner of Red Springs NC. drove the car which then belonged to Ray Mc donald of Southern Pines NC. I lived with Roy at his home and we raced the car. some trivia, the car was the only one with the exaust coming out of the rear above the rear bumper. also petty had engeneered a floating rear end for the car which was the only one used at that time you could take the axles out and leave the wheels on. we wrecked the car at the southern500 colliding with Bobby Johns on the backstretch killing three in the pits,Paul Mcduffie,Joe Sweetland (a official) and Pops Mcgee owner of Tailor and Mcgees speed shop in Charlotte, we fixed it up and ran the rest of the season but after that, the car was never run again. don't know what ever happened to it but I'M pretty sure it is not in any muesuem. the replica is at Charlottes home of Fame. I think Petty also has one.
