Langhorne Speedway
Oxford Valley Mall occupy's the former site of legendary Langhorne Speedway. All that's left is the official state marker out at the interseciton of Woodburne road and hwy1. The one mile "big left turn" was the first purpose built dirt track, especially for auto racing, racing from 1926 until 1971.
This is not the site of the speedway. The track was about a mile west of here, on a site that now has a K-mart or Sam's club on the side next to the highway and is still vacant in back. The large mall site above was the Old Star airport back at the time of the race track. It closed in the late 70s.
