Whoa! Now THAT is an interesting scheme. Never ceases to amaze me the nuances of the various Petty car designs - even in the STP era.

Is this late 1978 after PE changed to Chevy? I see the Oil Filters / Oil Treatment on the quarter. I know they added that when first changing over from Dodge. But I don't remember it being on the sides of the 1979 cars. PE may have been experimenting a bit with how to style the car after years of painting the Chargers (and a partial year of the Magnum). Or maybe they just masked and re-painted a purchased Monte. Here is how I remember the 1979 Monte Carlo 43 scheme - no OT/OF on the sides.
