Island Dragway Closed

I dragway i really called home has closed it doors. its the last real nostalgia strip around. alot of reasons for its closing but one bad one is drag racing clubs stop using it because it wasnt modern. i will really miss it. been going there before i could race with uncles in 1969 i ran there myself. dont know what ill do this year. some of my buddies are calling it quits to far to go any place else. if the tree huges keep getting they way no dragstrip will be safe and it will be back to streets. REST IN PEACE ISLAND DRAGWAY!!!!!! BILLY THE KIDD BENDER

wally BILLY THE KDD BENDER here thanks for talking about me on your show to nite. i got to meet charlie at rhinebeck this year real good guy. i will be there this year will look you up. last two years couldnt make it was very sick and mad me mad. yes you and i did chat on a web site it was call HOTRODDERS.COM if i remember rite it hell getting old. was hoping to have my falcon gasser built in 1969 buy a buddy that i ran againts with the mustang there but hurt my back so not ready but will be there nexted year and maybe if all goes good so will my 65 dodge. THANKS CHARLIE for making a dream of a PDL REUNION come true. SEE YOU AT THE DRAGS BILLY THE KIDD BENDER!!!!!!

my greatest memory was the day i out ran carmen rhonda at pocono interenational dragway in my 61 vett for I/stock. still have the jacket i won that day. loved the days we ran classes. thanks billy the kidd bender

wally great show as all ways. when greg talk about the vega funny pannel he had and won championship with i wanted to buy that car missed it by a hour still have a pic he gave me of it. so ran dirt mod gremlin body for uncle for year wasnt my thing got hurt bad in wreck at speed way in cario ny. well keep up great shows. bill bender

im a nostalgia drag racer have a 65 dodge coronet straight axle 440 4 speed built by a freind and i in 1971 and redoing my 62 falcon gasser build by a buddy in 1969 drag both has was with just up dated rollbars and lap belts wouldnt change a thing. also looking to buy back my 61 starliner my uncle and i built in 1970. but good luck with your 65. billy the kidd bender
