Brian Vickers

General

Johnny, I developed a blood clot in my left leg in 2010 also. My doctor wanted to know if I been "sitting around", cars, planes, etc., too. I stand all day, every day. Sometimes, there's no classic reason to explain a clot. There sure wasn't one in my case. Hope Brian gets better, but it can be a slow process. Mine has.

Well, Dave, that IS interesting! Cuba's a vintage-car time capsule.

Racing Through History - Tuesday Nights

Administrative

Chase that's it! That's the program I was referring to. My parents attended that race, and I've seen the old program forever. Remembered Rex with the unfamiliar #40.

Racing Through History - Tuesday Nights

Administrative

Tim, although, in the mix, I agree, this past Tuesday's show was one of the best 'racing through history' segments ever. Hope we do some more; it was a fun show.

So, When Does History Begin?

Administrative

History is history, but I'm not interested in the modern era. I understand the role of racersreunion.com, but I'm stuck in the '50'; maybe some of the '60's.

A PHOTO SOME MAY HAVE NOT SEEN

Stock Car Racing History

Johnny, coincidentally, I've been studying the Petty/Beauchamp crash lately. I've 'zoomed in' as much as I could on Beauchamp's #73, and the only apparent roll cage is a single hoop behind the driver. There does not appear to be anythingsupporting the A-post area. Watch the you-tube videos of this crash...one in particular, shows Beauchamp landing in the parking lot. He was very lucky too...only 'minor head injuries'.

A PHOTO SOME MAY HAVE NOT SEEN

Stock Car Racing History

Miraculous Lee survived, but this crash ended his career. Looking closely, the bone-stock front seat isstillvisible. The passenger back-rest was removed for racing purposes. A single lap-belt was likely on-board, too. Equally scary is Daytona's single strand. wooden-post-supported, guard rail. We've come a loooonnnnng way.

Why Did Jeff Gordon Give the Race Away?

Current NASCAR

After winning the pole, and being in the thick of the battle for the entire race, why did Jeff Gordon make that final Homestead pit stop with a only handful of laps remaining?

Newman Still Does Not Have to Win

Current NASCAR

It's not about Newman, other than crashing Kyle Larson on the last turn at Phoenix, (his "season was on the line........blah, blah, blah") he's as capable driver as any of them. Yes, of course everybody 'accepted' and are running under the same rules..........what were the options? NASCAR makes the rules and it's their way or the highway. The issue, to me, is that multi-time season winners, those who have consistently won, and contended for wins, (for all his other attributes, Ryan Newman has not) are locked out of the championship, becauseof the rules. My issue is with the system.......the new and grandiose "elimination chase". The Bob Latford model rewarded consistency, and that's fine, if that's the system. But the NEW format encouraged winning.....don't see how this edition represents the advertised intentions.
