The Goat Herders are Heading For Daytona
Stock Car Racing History
Dargan, I didn't mention that part! There's a good possibility of a couple more race cars joining our convoy!

Mr. W. C. Bell and Harold Floyd (Bell & Bell Buick/GMC) are both attending with their vintage cars!
Fellow Bell & Bell member, Bill Tripp, is also making the trip to Daytona and is bring the 1933 (former Bill Morton) #1 Chevy coupe.
Thanks, Dargan! I was 17 the last (and only) time I was in Daytona forspeedweeks.... slept in a sleeping bag in the parking lotof the 4th turn at the speedway, it was GREAT!! Never thought it would take 41 years to get back! (life happens) It was 1971, the final race of the winged Dodge Daytona, Maynard Troyer flipped umpteen times in turn two, and Richard Petty won the race after a race-long battle with AJ and the Wood Bros. But, to be returning, with a vintage coupe, and to participate in a historic rendition of the famed beach-road course is more than I could ever imagined. Thanks to everyone involved for making this happen!
Seems like all that happened about the same time. the Dirt Track appeared to be a pet project of Humpy's. In his absence, there wasn't as much emphasis or support.... although the track still hosts the WoO season championships.
Another recent position of Roger's was that of general manager of "The Dirt Track" at Chalotte. After developing the Colossal 100,which was becoming a signature event, the Colossal and Slack were suddenly dropped. Looks like Roger more than landed on his feet.
Wonder if Scott's truck will be the black/greenZERO ?
I was 13 at the time, but I attended the 1967American 500at the Rock. I remember an article in the race's program whose title proclaimed....Rockingham to Have International Feel With the Addition of Clark........He was driving a HM Fairlane, but was a distant also-ran, and, as I recall, did not finish the race. Foyt (primarily) and (maybe) Mario, and (perhaps) JR were worthy stock car drivers, but then as now, most of those types of entries were more promo-hype than sustenance.
Dave, Herb Thomas started 228 Grand National events over a 10 year span and won 48*......... 21%! Herb's numbers will be tough to top.
