Racing History Minute - May 7, 1977
Stock Car Racing History
From Spartanburg Herald Journal ...
Ha ha! Now I see you. And yes, I think I remember your telling that story once before. Totally missed the DW picture on the brochure as I was focused on BP. It is a real head-scratcher though as to why Nashville chose to use a Dega VL picture in their brochure vs. one of their own.
Cale may have been going for his 9th straight short-track win. But BP ended up going back-to-back in Nashville. He won the Nashville 420 - the track's previous race - in July 1976.
From the TMC collection .
Here is the ticket brochure for the 1978 Nashville races featuring photos of the 1977 winners on it. Pretty sure I have this brochure stashed away at home. But this particular scan came from Russ Thompson.
Fireball Roberts in Smokey Yunick-owned, Bud Moore-sponsored Pontiac
Rex White with issues in the pits before a crash ended his day.
Just stumbled across this photo included in David Hawkins collection . Looks like its the eventual race winner captured in a pre-race photo.

Unlike a lot of the race report news clippings I've attached to your Racing Minute entries Tim, I found one for this race that was pretty long and well written. Trying to screen capture it, crop it, and share it so its legible isn't that practical in this case. And that's a good thing because it means the race was well covered.
So I'll just provide a link to the column by Bill Glance in The Post & Courier of Charleston SC. Put it this way. As you noted, Fred wanted the win badly and made some unconventional moves to get it. Just as is the case in 2013, Curtis wasn't particularly happy with the way the final two laps unfolded and let Lorenzen know it on the cool down lap.

But it looks like Curtis got over it quickly. After running 300 miles at Darlington, he boarded his plane along with Glen Wood to make the quick flight to Winston-Salem NC. Once there, he and Wood raced in a modified sportsman race that night at Bowman Gray Stadium. (Source: Post & Courier )
I enjoy the challenge of finding the articles. But I really like trolling through the photos already shared here to match some to a post. RR has 60,000+ photos. Individually they are cool contributions to this site. But I think its really cool when a few can be match to race recaps, trivia questions, personal memories, etc.
As for your ability to embed them too, sure you can! Maybe we just need to add a RacersReunion Working With Photos Follow-Along Tutorial to the Videos section. Ha!
