Men, forced to reside in the cave or face the wrath of a wife's scorn

General

Not meaning to sound sexist but the overwhelming statistics show that men, not woman, are forced out of every room in the house and now resort to hanging in "The Man Cave" in order to have a wall from where to hang a hood, a poster, or car calendar, the garage, man's last stand. Though the woman wants the garage to park her car we men must stand firm on the cement slab and defend it at all cost, this is our Alamo boys, dig in and defend it. Without The Man Cave there would be no local short track racing, this is the birth place of the race car, it was true in 1939, it is still true today. The garage, where ideas are born, where welders, grinders, wrenches and air tools whirl, hum, spin, hack and saw, where an ordinary car is "modified" to run the dirt and asphalt tracks of America...it's The Man Cave, this we must defend.

Dennis, this is a perfect example. Now that you've identified the track the pieces of the puzzle are complete. I've posted photos with the wrong driver's name but correct track, or the wrong track but the correct driver's name and somebody always comes along, like you, and corrects me. GREAT, now I can edit the photo description and title and make it right. If there is only one shred of truth to a photo people will figure it out, but if there's nothing but a photo, no name, track, no owner, nothing, there's nothing to start with.

I'd go so far as put the state it ran if the track is unknown, like you all said, any bit of info. can lead to solving the "unknown" driver photo.

I have posted many photos that were partially correct, I might have missed the drivers name, the car make or model or the track but, there was enough info. that someone looking could find it and let me know the correction. This happens to me all the time which must mean only one thing......I'm wrong a lot!!!!

Folks just need to slow down when posting photos, take that extra minute to add a title and description or, post the photo as a trivia question, that always stirs the imagination and crap house investigators...lol

I also found some more interesting information on the Olds Cutlass 442 or Supreme; what I read was that the Olds didn't get the factory backing like Ford and Chrysler in the late 1960's early 1970's and since it is a GM product (Chevrolet wasn't backing cars either) the Olds 442 just couldn't compete. Again, what a shame to miss out on an awesome design built for speed.

The 1970 Ford King Cobra was tested by Holman & Moody, and had promise of competing with the Mopar winged warriors but when Bunkie Knudsen was fired from Ford, so died the King Cobra. Only a limited number of the prototypes were built, Bud Moore bought two King Cobras from Ford, one Moore may still own, the other was sold to a private collector.

It's a mystery why NASCAR refused to allow the LeBarons to compete in Winston Cup? The cars were lengthened to meet specs but, like you said Billy, ran ARCA but never in Cup.

Ya know Jeff, I've noticed that but didn't quite put my finger on it. I bet your cat could dash under it with it's tail in the air and clear it.
