Great news Ray, looking forward to seeing the car at Occoneechee. I had the pleasure of meeting Worth a couple of years ago.

A NASCAR Hall of Fame Kind of Day

General

Thank you Randy Myers for organizing the visit and Tim Leeming for promoting it here on RR. Today was my first full day out of the house since getting sick and I got a little tired but had a GREAT time. Words fail me as how to describe the honor and privilege it is for me to meet fellow RR members. Seeing the HOF was good but being with such fine folks was what made it special. Thanks RR friends for letting me tag along.

Joe Lee being from Chattanooga would be a natural to have Honest Charley on the quarter panel. The photos shown here must have been before Honest Charley came up with this famous logo as the name is just lettered on the car.

That's right RNG, there are several names I recognized that ran at the old Rockingham Speedway. Walston Gardner (also seen it spelled Walson), Roy Tyner, John Sears, J.D. McDuffie and Tiny Lund all made appearances or were regulars at the old dirt track on US1 just North of Rockingham.

I've seen this picture before but it is the first time I saw Tex Powell in it. I had forgotten Tex was on that crew.

My wife's brother-in-law and I attended the last race of the season at Atlanta when Terry Labonte won the title and Bobby won the race. Only a few years before I was watching Bobby run late model at Caraway. We sat out in a field for a couple of hours before we could ever get into the traffic. It took hours to get to the highway. My last trip to Atlanta for a Nascar race.

Dave, Dad kept a copy of the results for the 1969 Permatex 300 in a scrapbook. It was a copy from one of those memora-graph machines (I think that is what they were called). It was folded twice and now only 1/4 of the results can be seen. The rest disappeared and what is left is very faint.

Had to read it twice Chase. Still can't figure out where DW was when his '78 Monte Carlo spun ans struck the first turn wall. Glad he wasn't hurt, wherever he was.
