Hornaday Penalties After Bubba Rock Truck Hook Under Yellow?

Current NASCAR

I did not see Ron dump Bubba but he has got no reason to complain about racing hard. I watched him run everyone hard all day long that passed him. Cutting them off, crowding them, making his truck really wide. Hard racing, yes, I watched Burton, Elliott and Dillon work many laps making passes on Ron all day long and all were very careful to stay off him. All 3 had gotten around Ron as the laps ran down, when Wallace got to him the laps were about gone, he did not have time to play nice. He raced just as hard as Ron had all day. I know the young guys have to earn the respect of the veterans but the veterans also need to be worthy of that respect. The young guys are there to race to, they don't have to just let the veterans go.

Who does Ron think he is, Jimmie Johnson?

A Racing History Minute - April 8, 1956

Stock Car Racing History

Yes it was called Champion Speedway Laverne. Dad has told me about going to see Heb Thomas win the Grand National race there in '56. I'll ask him about any convertible races.

Surprised that Darlington Raceway Teams with the SC Lottery

Stock Car Racing History

Sign of the times I guess Janice, I don't think much of a state lottery, bad government. The NC Lottery is a sponsor at Rockingham, shame they need the state as a sponsor. Should be free enterprise at work.

Carl Long: The Other Side of the Track

Current NASCAR

William, I don't know Richie well but I have meet him a couple of times and you are right about his work, he is a master craftsman. He helped Tex Powell with the restoration of Benny Parson's '73 Chevy that he crashed at Rockingham the day he won the championship. Dad and I thought it was really cool that the same guys that rebuilt the car that day at Rockingham did the restoration on it. You could write a book about Richie's involement in racing and not just on stock cars, he was part of Ford's GT40 program.

Carl Long: The Other Side of the Track

William, The best line I ever heard about bending the rules was from Richie Barzs. He was asked if all the stories about getting away with cheating were true. He just smiled and said "Everybody got their turn at bending the ruleswith Nascar looking the other way. The fun part was when you beat them and it wan't your turn."

Evidence of Tommy Bostick running that '64 Ford in 1969. From Sept. '69 Carolina Dirt Track Circuit magazine from Sherman Garris collection.

Work Horses

Stock Car Racing History

I ran across a news clipping from Sept. of 1967 that stated Tommy Bostick had won 15 races so far that year and had taken home almost @10,000 in purse. I looked up another article and saw where he was driving a 1964 Ford and I believe it to be the same car he was driving in 1965. Tommy won 6 races with that car in 1966 at the new Sanford Motor Speedway, he had won 5 in a row until Dad was able to stop the streak on Sept. 9th.
