Well there aint no better way to start a season but from the pole --- Yep Chase Elliott
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --Chase Elliott will become the youngest driver to start on the pole for the Daytona 500 in his first race in the No. 24 car.
Jeff Gordon, the cars former driver and now a FoxSports analyst, spoke to Elliott from the television booth shortly after Elliotts monster lap of 196.314 mph, which bested Joe Gibbs Racings Matt Kenseth (196.036 mph).
This is a very, very cool day, Elliott said. I dont know that this opportunity has sunk in yet, much less sitting on the pole for the Daytona 500.
Elliotts Hendrick Motorsports teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. was a favorite for the pole but qualified third. His starting spot is not guaranteed, as his finishing position in Thursday nights Duel races will determine the lineup.
Kinda funny how Ford has let this happen. I knew about the Woods Bros looooong time ago, almost before Daytona and to hear this just doesnt set well. So now what IF they go out and defy the odds. Its not impossible you know, look back at their track record from I think 1950. They do have that mojo and have been true to the color {Blue} So dont say never because the fat lady sure hast sung yet..
Remember running outlaw or wild catting it??? Going back to the old ways I see..
Out of the blue a replacement for Tony has been picked. Yup areplacement from out of the blue. After scratching your head you will say Brian Vickers?? Yup thats the pick and it may be a choice but he must be up to it.. Last year he hadreoccurring bloodclots again sooo what will this year bring. Tye Dillion is in the wings if needed. Friday there will be an official announcement on this so time will tell. Here is pulling for you AW.

It's official: Three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart will begin his final season as a driver on the sidelines following an accident with a sand rail on the West Coast last Sunday, Stewart-Haas Racing announced on Thursday.
That means Stewart will not compete in what was scheduled to be his final Daytona 500, and will miss additional early races.
SHR issued the following statement on Stewart's condition Thursday afternoon.
Stewart suffered the backinjury when the sand rail he was driving landed wrong, compressing its shock absorbers. He was wearing a six-point harness and a helmet at the time of the accident, according to multiple sources, who added that Stewart's vehicle did not roll over.
A number of drivers were at the dunes after attending the Barrett-Jackson Collector-Car Auction inScottsdale, Arizona on Saturday. They were guests of noted car-collector Ron Pratte at an area known as Glamis Dunes near the California-Arizona border.
The setback is the latest in a string of unfortunate events for Stewart.
In August 2013, Stewart suffered a double compound fracture of the right leg in a horrifying sprint-car crash in Iowa. As a result, Stewart missed the rest of the Sprint Cup season and has not won a Cup race since.
The following August, he was involved in a fatal sprint-car crash in Upstate New York, when his car struck Kevin Ward Jr., who had gotten out of his crashed racer and ran toward Stewart. A grand jury concluded that the filing of criminal charges against Stewart was not warranted, but Ward's family subsequently filed a wrongful death suit, which is still pending.
Stewart, who will turn 45 this year, has 48 career Sprint Cup race victories and three championships. He also won the Indy Racing League championship and the USAC Triple Crown.
Well what do you think, will he recover enough to finish the season finals ???
