A NEW TWIST TO GETTING TICKETS TO THE RACE

Current NASCAR

A fugitive from justice wanted badly to see the race in Talledega so he swapped his trusty pistol for tickets to the race and got in. John Law was tipped off to the gun swapping and caught up with the guy before the green flag flew. Now was this a die hard race fan or just a sole wanting some company for the afternoon or really hiding out with Bryan France

ONE FOR RICHARD CHILDRESS

Stock Car Racing History

It seems the more we talk about a person like Richard the more good we hear of him. I crossed paths with Richard way back when we were having way to much fun racing, that was back in the late 60's. Anyway thats how things were done back then, it was really a brotherhood of guys loving the same thing,we helped in areas we were good at and received help where we were not so good at it. As Bob found out at Columbia Richard has a heart of gold. Richard Childress along with Richard Petty and others that were true blood racers would stop and help you along the road or track or almost wherever you were. Bob only had to make a phone call to R.C. to recieve help, try that nowadays. Only a very chosen few would even raise an eyebrow to return the look. My take on yesterday, the days I loved and miss so much, its also why I strive here on R/R to try and continue the old time spirit and feeling to our new and upcoming guys and gals. God Bless us all to maintain the initial goal of Paul and Jeff with Racers reunion. bob williams said:
I'm not surprised to hear about Richard helping Morgan, he's just that kind of a guy. In 1971 I was running Gran. Am. and pulled into the pitts at Columbus S C and parked next to Richard. He walked over to my truck and said," you have a universal joint going bad on your truck." Well ,Richard knew I was no mechanic and I was by myself with no help. He said, go to town and get one and I'll change it out for you." I did and he did. He slid under there, took the drive shaft out, changed it out and put it back in all for nothing more than a "thank you." Like I said, he's a good man. Years later when I was out of work I called Richard from Jackson.Ms. He never hesitated, but just said," come on up here, I'll put you to work." I did't have the money to go, so I moved to Ga. where I could stay in my sons basement and work for a near by show car co. My first job was driving Morgan Shepards ' Wood Bro. car. I enjoyed getting to know Morgan. I was real pleased to hear that he had given his life to Christ. Morgan was a real rounder in his day, but then a lot of us went down that road ,did'nt we? I'm glad to learn that R C is helping him.

A shooting over a special picture of someone they thought they knew

Trivia

Every one needs to be real careful for a while especially while strolling down memory lane because there are two hombres who claim the street as theirs. It all started a while back when one showed a picture of a pretty little thing. That started it there when the other said it was his and keep your hands off.Now its down to who is the fastest because one has called the other out for a showdown.Should be a pretty good spectacle because both atre claiming rights and one even wrote his brand all across it. But as you and I know a brand can be altered pretty cuick in the dead of night so I say cover your eyes when around RJ and Andy because they gonna have a heck of a cyber fight and no tellin which one will pop a processor or maybe loose control of their mouse and break a main frame causing total cayuse in cyber space. Just walk quick look fast and enjoy the show its gonna get good at least until Sheriff Robbie rides in on his triple powered west bend GO-Kart yeeee haaaaa

The Rumble of Dust

Stock Car Racing History

Tim, I want you to know while reading your words it was almost like I was there beside you enjoying each and every second of the day. I dont know how but its almost like mental telepathy when you describe something in detail as you did here. I mean I can almost see each and every thing you saw there and even the dust hanging in the air. And yes the rumble off the back stretch seems almost like it was yesteryear. Now all I need is to get you to finish the story because it seems as though you left out a couple of wonderful hours out. -----------------------------------------------------------Memories

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST, an owner driver that is

Stock Car Racing History

thanks for the help dave sometimes i get off a few days or such with dates but the idea is there Dave Fulton said:
A small correction - Shelmerdine was also crew chief for Earnhardt for the last 10 races of the 1981 season beginning at Michigan in August when we took Earnhardt and our Wrangler sponsorship from the Jim Stacy operation (after his purchase of Rod Osterlund's team) to Richard Childress. Earnhardt and Wrangler then went to Bud Moore for 1982-1983, reuniting with Shelmerdine and Childress in 1984.

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST, an owner driver that is

Stock Car Racing History

This is a sad note to post but Kirk Shelmerdine Racing is auctioning its current race team assets, according to an item posted on kirkshelmerdine.com.Shelmerdine is best known for his role as crew chief for Dale Earnhardt from 1984 to 1992, but he has been a regular owner/driver entry at select races in recent years.Per the announcement, his assets will be sold at public auction on Sept. 14.Why is it that Nascar is letting the kind of people who helped form this wonderful sport we have fall by the wayside??IS THERE ANY ANSWER TO THIS MAYHAM?????
