NASCAR---- What do you think, is it still interesting???

Stock Car Racing History

Does NASCAR still have a special place in your heart? What is it about NASCAR that makes it so interesting to you or are you turning to older racing ?Tell your favorite NASCAR story, or tell why you follow NASCAR, or tell how you first got interested or what is your thought of the future of NASCAR .Do you watch because of the speed involved or the courage it takes to keep the pedal to the metal? Do you watch because of a certain driver or a certain car? Do you watch for the strategy and the action? Do you watch to see the wrecks, or do you watch to compare with the good ole days?I bet everyone has an issue, care to share yours??

Have you ever heard the phrase "EARN IT" ??

Stock Car Racing History

oh yes im enjoying the ride along with you and many others but he ,in my way of think at least, has a long way to go to even be "THE MAN" PattyKay Lilley said:
There will always be only one Dale Earnhardt, The Man. He was the epitome of what a racecar driver is. Some would say that he was the epitome of what a racecar driver should not be, but I find flaws in that theory. Seven Championships speak for themselves, and those will never truly be contested as long as we have the warped system of scoring that prevails today. His record, and that of King Richard, will remain unassailed.

But...I think some folks tend to have short or selective memories. Don't I recall a "youngster" of 29 or 30 years, absolutely tearing up the tracks and leaving mayhem in his wake? Don't I remember that guy with the bad 70's haircut and a bad mustache literally hitting everything but the pace car and raising the wrath of some very impressive personalities while doing it? (Later on, when Elmo was driving it, he did, of course, hit the pace car too. Repeatedly) ~LOL~

What I DO remember clearly was that while all that was going on, that same driver took Rookie of the Year in 1979 and took his first Championship in 1980, a feat never equaled before or since. Did drivers and fans call him names back then? You can bet your farm they did! Surely, some folks here remember going to a track and being harassed by strange folks wearing shirts that read "F.A.D.E." Fans against Dale Earnhardt. There were tons of them.

Those folks didn't bother Dale and I'm sure that the same breed doesn't bother Kyle. Dale used to say, "They don't sign my paychecks." Kyle probably feels the same. Kids tend to outgrow their rough edges after a while. Remember, Dale didn't come into Grand National until he was 29. Kyle started in Cup at age 19. He's been here since 2004, and I can see the differences occurring. Sure, they are subtle, but they are there.

Before the race, the media hounds sought to stir the pudding a bit between Kyle and Brad K because of the finish the night before, in the Nationwide race. Kyle was asked what he was thinking when he was about to put Brad a lap down. He replied that he was thinking, "I bet he wishes they'd given him a car as fast as mine and that handled this well." When they interviewed Brad with a similar question, his answer was, "Kyle Busch is an --- [Donkey]

Talent...the kind that makes great drivers...is there from birth in many cases. (Born to race) A suave demeanor and/or a pleasing personality take time to develop...and in some cases, that never happens. As someone already said, it is far too early for that sort of comparison. Dale is dead and gone after a long and successful career...but not long enough. Kyle is only beginning and won't reach Dale's age when he started, for another four years. Why don't we all just enjoy the ride?

Most everyone that likes racing saw the sat nite race at Bristol and some saw the Nationwide and truck race as well.
Now is Kyle the man now? True he can drive and he is always on the verge of loosing control. But is he The Man. Tell you what, watch the short video I listed below and then dont be hasty in your decision but think and if you have any doubts watch the video again then I think you will say safely which one earned it.----------------- http://racingwin.com/the-best-of-dale-earnhardt/

And who earned it------------------------memories

This may be the Photo of the Week

Stock Car Racing History

A quote I read today about Kyle--I saw it and I passed it (speaking of Brads car Sat nite).
As bad as some may think of Kyle and his antics and childish ways when he crawls behind the wheel he is in another world because he can drive a car in almost any condition but when its right he is almost invincible.
A lot has been said and much more will be said about his Bristol drive . I for one was and always will be a dale senior admirer but he does catch your eye on the track, one speed wide open who will better him?

Wage Cuts hit Racing next year

Stock Car Racing History

Cody there is talk of regulating the sprint cup drivers in the nationwide not letting them run for the championship --maybe that will have them at least think about that --just like carl edwards saying he is running the full season next year---that may keep a small unknown but good driver from getting his start Cody Dinsmore said:
Yeah thats true Johnny....but, that 20% cut is going to the trucks. There will still be the same guys in the nationwide, they have enough money not to care

Wage Cuts hit Racing next year

Stock Car Racing History

It looks like the boys with the new pony cars will do it with a cut in salary. The Nationwide is having a purse cut by 20%---W O W just think, that may run the Grand National Boys out of the Sportsman races ( I still like the ring of those two names) so some lower tier drivers can make the show and get track time. There was quite a few go homers in fri nites race. Also they loose a race ,down to 34 . So when the new brand new pony cars hit the track next year maybe the local guy from your home town may just make it into the race---only time will tell. HUh? I didnt hear you--- write it down in the space below so all can hear what you said!!!

Tim all I can say to what you wrote is A M E N Brother--our past holds things no one can take away and who we did it with means even more. As your uncle did on your maiden voyage through the fence to you after that race that is priceless, I too remember my fathers face after that first night and the win to boot, Its not about spinning out someone then bragging about it. I too have my memories of days long ago on those dusty hot days and nights in a valley or side of a hill or even a plowed field. Those were where history was made, how minuet our part was in it there was still history there that time when we heard the words " GENTLEMEN ---------------------------START YOU ENGINES" Dang I still get cold chills thinking back to that first time-------------------------------------------------------------memories

Will Bristol be called the TEMPER 500 ???

Current NASCAR

Wonder if Joey will test the strength of Ryan or maybe Carl will be flying like the Duck or how about the Bush Johnson saga thats been brewing. Bristol has been noted to be a hot place to start with then you add the temper factor to it the pant on the steps to the red trailer gets worn all to quickly. But Joey is starting to get a pretty good list of people that may need to kinda pay back to Joey, harvick -- newman --bush,the list is growing. and Joey marched into Ryans pit to confront Ryan. Was that a smart thing to do???And will the "SAYING" he's racing me to hard resurface again this weekend. A lot of different ways to go this weekend here, which way do you suppose the mood will swing to???? Remember the song Bristol Stomp it may just resurface --Will it be fun???
