If you banned the drivers motohome from the infield would this help racing/??

Current NASCAR

You know Cody back in the 60's we never had time to parlay at the track like they do now--we pulled all night to get to the track in time to qualify and after the race we were off on the road to the next race so i dont see why they have to set around and drink their lemonaide even if its not Mikes. And no the Motor home is not essential. It just makes life just coushey for them. WE bought our first motorhome in 77 but ive never used it to pull the car to a track. First off I value my life more than that, she is pickey over that ride. But yes we stayed at the motel and worked all night in the parking lot to be able to run the next day----Now todays drivers ,well lets just say they aint cut from the same mold that Tim,Jeff,Billy or even ole Junior was whittled from .. Cody Dinsmore said:
I dont know Johnny. Even if they stayed at the track suite's or at a hotel, the good friends would still come over. But the motorhome is essential. I may be just saying that because We've had one since I was born and it has really come in handy. That way, after practice and the Nationwide quals come on for example, you're not gonna drive15-30 to get to your hotel, watch tv or something, then come back in a hour or so, and your not gonna stay around the hot track with nothing to do if it's an impound race. Yes I do agree Nascar needs more rivalry and bumping, etc. But I'm just saying that they need a motorhome.

Anyway thats my point of view.

First off were we really friends back in the 60's?? neither of us stayed around overnight after a race and surely didnt arrive several days in advance to plan our hot dog roast with DW and his cronies.Yes we are great friends now off the track and maybe on the track--HA HA HA-- but we dont camp next door to each other each week at the track of next weeks race. And the third turn is getting better each week so watch that watermelon thats sliced over at the next shin--dig. And Ole DW says you splashed mud on him in Mrytle Beach in 70 so imagine that. Tim Leeming said:
Johnny, I can only assume that you have already fired up that still at MGR and are sampling the product. Or, are you saying Duck Boy doesn't have a motorhome? Or is it Dodger that doesn't have the motorhome. What about the good old days with Joe Weatherly and Curtis Turner? Were they buddies? What about The Master and The Legend? They can't be friends and race? I can't afford a motorhome anyways, so I guess I need to visit the third turn tunnel at MGR.

Get rid of the drivers motorhome lot and youll instantly see a pickup in the on track competition level in NASCAR.Drivers have become a little too friendly with each other and that has led to too much give and take on the race track. When drivers become too friendly with each other they are less likely to race each other hard when it counts.Drivers dont need to be pals, buddies and friends. They need to be rivals, foes and enemies to the bitter end. When drivers spend the weekend camping out in the infield they end up visiting with other drivers in the motorhome lot. They grill steaks, tell stories, play video games and gather up for poker.NASCAR drivers have become just a little too friendly with each other. When Jimmie Johnson goes over to Jeff Gordons motorhome for dinner the day before a big race it makes it that much harder for Jeff to give Jimmie the bump and run on race day. When Kyle Busch shows up at Dale Earnhardt Jrs motorhome for online racing that makes Junior think twice before moving Kyle out of the racing groove. There was a lot more racing and a lot less giving up positions before drivers started bringing their motorhomes to the racetrack.NASCAR, ban the motorhomes and lets have at it boys. Would it work?Whats your take on this subject

Jimmy Johnson, was that rough driving

General

Maybe because he has always been out front before and now having to deal with how it really is in racing and his smooth demeanor just cant handle the pressure of constantly being passed-- it happens sometimes to those who have been born with a spoon of shiny substance close by Ernest Sutton said:
Jimmie claimed he was trying to bumpdraft Kurt...............this from a "4-Time Champion". In my unqualified opinion, a driver bumpdrafts on a straightaway from a position directly behind & in alignment with the car in front. The "4-Time Champion" didn't appear to be directly behind & in alignment with Kurt............so I suppose the logical conclusion is that the "4-Time Champion" has not had enough experience when it comes to bumpdrafting and could probably use some more schooling in that area.

I was worried for a moment when Elliott hit that wall head on

. Sadler took one of the hardest hits NASCAR has seen in a long time, crashing his No. 19 straight into the corner of steel and earth reinforced guardrail. The impact was so violent that the engine was ripped from his car and landed several hundred feet down the racetrack. It was almost surreal when the car was towed back to the garage by one tow truck, and then a few minutes later along comes another wrecker carrying the engine.

After climbing from the car with a dazed look on his face Sadler had to lie down on the race track to catch his breath. Eventually he got up and walked to the waiting ambulance under his own power.

what that says is there is a lot of holes in that plan whether it be for the seller or the buyer but vacation time is almost guaranteed Robbie Solesbee said:
Go to the link Dave posted in the discussion. It was an undercover cop. But even at that why would anybody in their right mind sell a business and show records that pretty much say all this can be yours if want to cheat the IRS and risk going off to Club Fed for a while?

I had heard that he tried to sell his car wash business to an undercover cop and showed him a second set of accounting books. Don't know 100% if that is the story or not. Can you shed some light on this Dave?

Oh by the way You see where The Gateway doesnt want a race next year?? PattyKay Lilley said:
I read that "news" a couple of days back, but when I got to the part that said they "skipped over the hot-button issues", I just dialed out. Same old, same old. Don't make waves or Big Daddy NASCAR won't like it. Shame on the team owners! If they won't speak up, who is left?

Despite "Have at it boys", it became abundantly clear this past week that it's OK to create mayhem on the race track, no matter how much it costs the car owners for all the wrecked sheet metal following someone's temper tantrum, but speaking the truth will cost you dearly. It's not nice to fool with NASCAR.

The car owners talk a good game there, but refuse to touch anything that might be unpopular on Daytona Beach. Given that, I can't believe they are accomplishing anything more than expelling some hot air...but they did get an excuse to go fishing.

The foregoing statement about the boring tracks was spot on. The fans...remember us NASCAR?...have spoken long and loudly of their preference for short tracks. So NASCAR, in a total lack of understanding, compassion or wisdom, models half a dozen tracks after Charlotte. Hey, Charlotte is a good ol' girl, but she's not the best mare in the stable. North Wilkesboro, with the kookie uphill in the backstretch and downhill in the front stretch configuration, just might have been. Where is she now?

Iowa Speedway opened recently, with a configuration similar, but not identical to Richmond. Brave Rusty! The gradient banking on that little beauty promotes fantastic racing...but Iowa doesn't have a Cup date and I've heard nothing about one in the future. Kansas, however...probably the most boring of them all...is up for a second date next year. Who makes these decisions? Actually, from what I've read, that one was made by Lesa France Kennedy, who quietly works behind the scenes. Kansas City is opening a new gambling casino and NASCAR wants a part of it, so they've arranged a trade-off. Nice. (At lease now I realize why that city somewhere east of nowhere was in the voting for housing the Hall of Fame. Funny how it all comes out in the wash)

High on my wish list would be to see several of the cookie-cutters replaced with tracks similar to Richmond, Bristol, Dover and Martinsville. Then, bring back North Wilkesboro and Rockingham while flushing that waste of space in Fontana...and maybe the one in New Hampshire while you're at it. Ah...if only wishing made it so!

Mr Sutton, I enjoy you writings very much. It seems as though you and I have traveled the same dusty road before. I was raised on southern dirt racing in the carolinas and Georgia. My father was a Marc winner many times.I like to write about the good times I had with my dad when he was racing and when I took over.in the early 60's.Things now adays just doesnt make sense in racing. I truly like what Jeff Gilder has got going with Racers Reunion, so much that Im building a car to run again and now with my home track coming back alive im in hog heaven. We are going to relive the good ole days again and we coming up to party with Bobby and his cronies too.So keep writing your neat commentary's and I am sure someone will have a reply to it. I for one enjoy my debates with Tim and others and you are welcome to join in sir.
