ARE SPORTS CARS STOCK CARS?

Uncategorized

well if you are describing the cars that todays drivers use in sprint cup, they are cookee cutter cars, one stamp fits all, otherwise known as Cars Of Tin (cot) you cant tell a toyota from a chevy or a ford from a dodge --if you take the decals off them they are clones --all the bodies are the same, window nets, wings(left over bleacher seats),front spoilers, even the wheel openings are all the same.if they wreck you cant tell who from whoever go back to the day and cars had personality, unique motor sounds, shapes like women, each different but all pretty and you didnt need to write in big letters what kind of car it was because you could tell------------------------------------------memories

ARE SPORTS CARS STOCK CARS?

Uncategorized

old sports cars are really unique to look at and the people that raced them i have sympathy for them because very little protection was provided back in the day mainly because most were open cockpits ---i dont think think they be compatible on the same track together because if they touch wonder what would happen--ive always thought sportscar racing was a gentlemens spot where one driver holds the door for another or pulls over when a car comes up behind him --thats my spin but as usual we will be be bumping and running on answers to this question---------------------------------memories

Significant milestone for RacersRunion

Uncategorized

there are several sites around that cater to racing, most are about the modern segment and very few are of ( BACK IN THE DAY)--there are some that have cars that are for show but dont touch types of vehicles---look at bobbys car , true in his eyes its a work of art but at the end of the week its play time for him and the car, those are real cars of yesterday and tomorrow and as ole D.W. says oh by the way i havent seen jeffs hand out for that "awful" word yet either. Sometimes i think you get more help by not asking for it---but this site is informative--(i learn something every time i come here) its entertaining, its colorful, its down to earth, its personal, everyone has their own little space, and above all its fun to associate with people from the past and most importantly the present, some will be there in the future, its got that old family flair that racing used to have so may the pens fly,the keys chatter, and the airways sing because i know all have their idea of whats so exciting about this site-----green flag go go go

Just Joined Up, Hello all

Uncategorized

wecome to our world, now you got to know there is a difference in our racing compared to the modern day events that happen on the paved tracks--like i told a couple the other day anybody can drive down the highway but try driving 100mph plus on a dirt road then turn left ---now thats whats called a thrill----we used to run on tracks down in the south of half mile or better and they were flat so you had to set up for the turn about half way down the straightaway for the slide---tiny lund was the most spectacular driver i know for that--because i chased him for many laps following him and learning the control he had up high where most didnt dare venture anyway remember what ole D.W. always says---boggity boogity lets go racing -------memories

Yankee Transplants NJ, PA and NY

Historic Speedways and Ghost Tracks

George, you and I remember the good ole days and yes I do remember some of those northern tracks you so fondly remember. I made it up into Pa. a few times and guys back then looked and said lets see what he's got at the end,no fussing or fighting over turf laws just good old racing. At the end of the day everyone went for a quiet peaceful dinner at some local establishment and of course the visitors were invited too. Ha Ha Ha I do remember those Days,o happy days with ----------------------------------------memories

Remembering the brilliance of Smokey Yunick (1923 - 2001)

Uncategorized

i have thought about building a tribute car to smokey several times but i have major thoughts as to how would you truly build a car the way he did and do it his way--i saw a lot and and a lot is documented BUT so much he didnt say or let people know about would be the down fall --you can paint one to look like his FROM a distance but when you get close smokey was well lets just say he was colorful but different even with paint. Now go look that up and figure that one out that my friend is------------------------------memories

Remembering the brilliance of Smokey Yunick (1923 - 2001)

You have to have grown up during the Unick era to truly appreciate the man and what he did for automotive racing, Neat things he did that the regular racer didnt spot was worth its weight in gold. Take that chevelle he took to Daytona,it litterly flew around the course and everyone was shouting foul on the motor but all along it was tricks to the body,Indy was the same way,the man was so far ahead in design it was scary. Nothing was more fun than to go to his shop and listen and look and keep your mouth shut cause that was best way to find the door fast. A brain that left us way to soon. O the stories I heard there in the 50's

Which current drivers could have competed then?

Current NASCAR

WELL I GUESS THE LIST WOULD BE PRETTY SHORT BECAUSE ITS NOT ALL THAT STRENUOUS TO PICK UP A CONTROLLER--- IVE BEEN TO THE POINT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT AFTER A LONG RACE --WE DIDNT HAVE THE LUXURY OF POWER STEERING,AIR PIPED IN TO US,AND A CAR SET UP TO RIDE AROUND TRACK----HECK WE STAYED SIDEWAYS MOST OF THE TIME-----I THINK TONY WOULD MAKE THE CUT AND RYAN,PROBABLY COUSIN CARL AND THE OLD MAN,MARK,HE'S STILL TOUGH---AS WILD AS KYLE IS OR HIS BROTHER I DONT THINK THEY COULD CUT IT FOR 500 LAPS OLD SCHOOL STYLE ---NOT MANY MORE THOUGH ENOUGH----WHAT DO YOU THINK
