Alright Jeff! Major Milestone there!
Alright Jeff! Major Milestone there!
I don't know how many are left, but you'd think that the association would consider doing it until there's just a handful of people left. Now some are older and that's a factor, and plus like you said, all the way to Hawaii must take a lot of money... It's still a shame though I think.
No Jim, they don't. I've often heard Raymond Parks tell the story of basically living a fox hole, or something of that size, that barely covered their backs and heads from debris and bullets.
I heard today that after this year, the Pearl HarborSurvivor's Association was being disbanded, sad.
Hey, I was trying to be incognito over there, so no one would know my TRUE identity. But since I've been discovered I guess the banana just hit the peanut-butter! Hey that just means I'm known on more than one site!
I was kinda suspicious when this was on the front page! lol
Thanks for the kind words Dave and others

Ya know even older than the Winston era, lots of drivers from the 40's and 50's would get cigars (sometimes unlit or lit) to keep the dirt from clogging their throats and lungs. Red Byron was known for this.
Maybe to get the tar out of his mouth. He still smokes, when he was 2010 Grand Marshall at the Moonshine Festival, he was driving his old #3 in the parade wheel in one hand and cig in the other. haha
I'll say Tony, too. Not only because he's my favorite (Carl's second on my list) But even though Tony doesn't particularly like to sign autographs, etc, he's a nice guy when you see him. And most of all, he is a driver, and that's all there is to it. He's won 10 (I think) championships since he began driving cars. That ranges from go-karts, to midgets, outlaw sprints, iroc, Indy, and Nascar. And he's won a race in every thing he's ever driven. Atleast two for every series, because he's only got two Truck wins. You could put him in a Pinto at Eldora and he could probably win. He has class and style. He doesn't drive like you would think. Like every one has already said, that race in Homestead was just perfect and they way he drove that thing really showed how bad he wanted a third Cup.
I was really kinda surprised that Tony didn't get the MPD award, but there's always Jr. Nation to prove me wrong.
He's actually 41. But both are, to me, the two of the nicest guys out there. I've met both and if Reutimann didn't have to go to the infield at Atlanta, he would have talked to me in the rain for a couple of min. And Ragan, is extremely nice. I met him when he came up to our induction ceremony when his father was inducted into the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame back in October. He talked to me for several minutes about things, then signed my autograph book and a tire off his car that I have on display in the museum.
To me, either one is fine for the job, but the bad part is, is that there's only one ride and I'm afraid that the other won't get it.Decisions,Decisions,Decisions.
