Little known fact - Jimmie Johnson's first-ever start in a stock car came in eastern North Carolina's BBQ belt just outside Wilson when he strapped into an ASA car at Southern National in 1997.

Our two heat races that determined (everywhere we raced) the feature starting lineup were staged on what was known as the "Money-Point System." Drivers who had won the most money and scored the most points started at the rear of their heat. There were no time trials.
