NASCAR, as an American, I am highly offended by your insensitive commercial

Administrative

I don't know how many of you caught the commercial run during the Southern 500 telecast Sunday night and I wasn't even going to mention it until I saw it again last night on one of the NBCSN shows. The commercial has to do with that Chase mess which we are about to enter. It is a take off on the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. It starts off with "I pledge allegiance to the flag" and goes on, in the same cadence as The Pledge of Allegiance showing flags from racing teams and such and wants to make us believe that we must pledge our allegiance to the flag of one of the sixteen teams that happen to stumble into the Chase by whatever means Brian and his mad minions may determine necessary to stack the field with fan favorites.

NASCAR, you are the ones who started this Politically Correct B.S. with your Confederate Flag stance and now you insult the United States of America by your insulting take off on the pledge to the Flag of the United States of America. You should be ashamed of what you have done. What is your next move? Re-write the National Anthem to include references to all your contrived efforts to make the sport of stock car racing no more believable than WWE? You have insulted the American people and I am highly offended that you would do what you have done to the Pledge of Allegiance.

One final question: Is it true that you,NASCAR,will be offering to exchange American Flags for Kyle Busch flags at Richmond this weekend?

Well, Brian, what did the weekend teach you?

Administrative

Thank you Will for the kind comment. That was right in your heyday and you should have been interviewed as well. Stories you could have shared would have been really entertaining and informative. As for our own "Rustyracer",I agree Billy would have blown away the television audience with his knowledge and his stories. Billy, however, never seeks out the limelight and seems to go the extra mile to avoid it. He is a gentleman well deserving of any honor that comes his way!

Well, Brian, what did the weekend teach you?

Administrative

Well, well, Brian France, did you notice the following about the weekend?

1. The racing was good as the cars were returned to the control of the drivers. Please quit trying to sell us that they look like "stock" cars however. That simply is not true.

2. Did you notice the crowd? Realizing such numbers are far outside your capacity to imagine after your dedicated efforts to destroy the sport, the crowd was awesome. Do you know why?

a. Back to tradition

b. Cars were more drivable and competitive

c. Core fans appreciated the return to the tradition of Labor Day weekend for the Southern 500 at Darlington.

3. Did you also notice that almost every camera shot I observed, as well as conversations with many fans who did attend, your supposed demographic was blown to hell. Seems there were more older fans (in excess of 50) or at least as many as the 18 to 40 group you are wanting to entice.

4. What did you learn about asking race fans to take down the Confederate Flag? You and the South Carolina Governor, who I understand was in attendance (and you probably weren't) would make a good couple. You both are very good at knee-jerk reactions to left wing stupidity.

Darlington's Southern 500 had many good things. Lasting late into the night was not one of them. If you insist on a Sunday night event, perhaps next year you would consider starting it at 5:00 p.m. (if NBC could manage to put the golf tournament on the Golf Channel where it belongs).

Brian, I am just a long time fan of the sport. I was in the infields of race tracks before you were born. I have been to many more races than you ever have, or ever will. I am one of hundreds of thousands of race fans you have discarded as meaningless. Any thoughts on that after The Southern 500?

THE OLE LADY IN BLACK DRAWING HEAT OVER THE FLAG

Stock Car Racing History

The fact that NASCAR and/or Darlington Raceway would have "officials" walk around asking fans to take down their Confederate Flags is a total disgrace to the sport and to the South. We usually flew the flag from our Motor Home at all the tracks we attended. Knowing my Daddy and his dedication to things in which he believed, I would have paid to see a confrontation between him and any "official" asking him to remove the flag. As Patrick said in his well written piece linked by Devin, the "political correctness" has become "political stupidity". Also, as Patrick points out, our sport and our Country are both going down the tubes because of issues based on race-baiting trouble makers. I've half a mind to take my Confederate Flag over to Darlington today and pay for parking just to fly the flag. I have my speech prepared for when the "flag police" come to me.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 7, 2015

Administrative

Our little traveling band of RacersReunion folks will be visiting the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame the morning of November 7th and will then journey on down the road (about 1.5 miles) to Memory Lane Museum. It will be aday filled with racing history and some really good adventures. Bob Hissom, connected with the N.C. Auto Racing Hall of Fame is arranging to have a couple of really knowledgeable racing folks for us at that facility.

Compared to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, this will be an inexpensive visit to two wonderful facilities. Be prepared to be impressed. I hope all of you will consider joining us for this historic adventure.

Stock Car Racing History

lol TMC Chase. At this point I really don't care what HMS does, Dale, Jr. does, NASCAR does, or anyone else. I am so tired of the NASCAR B.S. I'm not even watching it.

Will, you are THE man. We'll get o work on this. Thank you. As for metal shaping, that is so far above my level on intelligence I would be a miserable failure.

Sometimes words are not adequate at a time like this. I'm thinking about what to write and what to say. Should have that figured out by next week.
