Take a Look At This Beauty

Vintage Oval and Road Course Racing

Johnny, Hope your place came thru all the rain OK. We got a ton here in Orlando but its pretty well gone because the ground was so dry before Debbie. What say we go get that "ugly" car and make a vintage roundie round car outta her after we make her beautiful again.... I got an extra bay in the race shop here and one in N. Georgia also.

ps. I also have the phone numbers of her present owner and I'm told that price is sorta soft....

I see your white SUV in one of the photo's, You need to get a heavier vehicle and start taking your trailer with you on these trips.I wonder if we could get there before Bobby W. does. lol

Return to Kentucky Brings Memories of Harry Ranier

Stock Car Racing History

Dave, What A wonderful story, Thanks for posting it. As a young Hydraulic Sales Engineer in Ohio in the late 60's to late 70's I made numerous trips into West Virginia and Kentucky to call on coal operator's and Equip. Mfg. companies. I was born and raised in Pikeville, Kentucky very close to Prestonsburg and it used to amaze me when I would go home and try to talk stock car racing and Daytona and no one seemed to know or care. I knew several friends from high school that went into the coal business and moved to Lexington and got the horse racing bug. Everyone in south central Ohio knew all about Harry Ranier and his race exploits He had a great run while it lasted.

Johnny Rutherford-Smokey Yunick

Stock Car Racing History

Dave, Isnt it ironic that he drove the car # 13 and when he drove the Ford in question, the # 77 he finished 13th in that single race in April 65 in Atlanta. He is a registered Motivation Speaker with the AEI group in Mass. and I have sent an email to Jennifer Orell head of the research dept and asked if they could please ask Johnny who was the car owner. Never know, might work.

Resurgence of Racing Stripes on Car Paint Schemes

Stock Car Racing History

lol....I knew it would take a crew chief to point out my directional inability. Maybe I should have changed my number to 360. hehe

Resurgence of Racing Stripes on Car Paint Schemes

Stock Car Racing History

Must have been as stated " A thing of that era" I had a 57 chevy from 1969 to 1972 and it was Carolina blue with a wide white stripe down the center of the car. It was about 12 inches wide with 2 smaller stripes on either side. The center stripe was shaped like an arrow head on the hood to point me in the correct direction since I spent a lot of time spinning around in those days. lol

Bennett Speedway

Historic Speedways and Ghost Tracks

thanks all for such an informative project...I have been to that area many times and love it around there as my brother Bob has a chicken farm on Bennett Road in Seagrove.
