jay went racing in a Hanley car when he won the lottery. as for this pic, think this is at the old Pennsboro track it is definitely not Mt. Clemens though. saw Art many times in his Hanley car at the old Checker Flag Speedway here in Windsor, On.

In 1988 after Jayhit the lottery (he was 19 at the time I think) He and Art and Pete Doe from Utica Mi. purchased a Cup car from Hoss Ellington to run in the '88 ARCA 200 at Daytona.. Jimmy Gideon and Myself put the car (#78) together and carried it to Daytona and Jay drove it to a 4th. place finish behind winner Mickey Gibbs...Jay did a jam up job that day as a rookie. He kept his head and followed instruction to a tee. We ran that same car at Atlanta ARCA event that year also with Jay...They then had us to get a Monte Carlo from Eric Freedlander / Dale Jarret and we went to N.Wilkesboro for the Cup race where Jay did not make the field...We went to Dover Cup race with no better results...After that short stint Jay and Artie kept to Michigan and ran the Short tracks with their own stuff..Seems like Artie was using the #10 at that time on his red Camaro.Artie is one of a kind to be sure...I remember his zest for the off the wall style humor he possessed..Glad to hear he lost some weight...He was short and round with a head full of curly black hair the last time I saw him.
