Here is historic race results from the October 17, 1971 Late Model Sportsman race at Martinsville Speedway. This race was 250 laps, and part of the Cardinal 500 event. Sonny Hutchins started on the pole, and also won the race. The field consisted of 37 Chevrolets (mostly Chevelles), 2 Fords, and 1 Mercury. The Fords were driven by Hollis Tabor, and Dave Dion. The lone Mercury was driven by Tommy Bostick.
