they whine now over 1/2 lb of air changing that whole car setup----- i can remember dad going to the track, now this car was pulled with a towbar, and getting out and putting the tires on the front to race with---seems to me if i remember correctly the race car always tried to push the tow truck to the left and it would wear the front tires out on the highway---but on the track that setup made it dive into a curve and then you could hear him controlling the drift with the throttle and not fighting the wheel ---they had a unique way of setting the car up which consisted of zippo lighters to different sockets (which were marked for different tracks) to set the wedge, this was the clearance under the right rear tire when jacked up with a floor jack under the rear end with a 9/16 socket placed in jack saddle to allow car to pivot----crude but efficient---many of the old models would loose a left front during a race and actually do better because of the wedge being increased--they could carry the front in the air down straight and trow it into curve and never touch the ground----i remember a nite in north ga where tc hunt tore the left front off the car and won the race---- he was asked about it and i think his exact words were he was afraid if he slowed down he couldnt get going again ------memories

Johnny I remember my father towing with a 1948 Plymouth tow car and in one season 8 sets of tires were worn off the rear of the tow car as the race car would drag the tow car around.................memories
