After another night of wandering through racers reunion site i have come to the distinct conclusion that you have created a vice here to make us old die hard dirt eating drivers loose more sleep now than we did when we were racing all out,i have totally blown another night setting in here reading and totally enjoying myself. My wife has said already that she is taken by it too, because she was a major instrument in our racing back in the day. Anyway i want to thank you for the pleasure of allowing me to be part of your unique site and plan to loose many a nites sleep yet over this site-------------memories
Hi Johnny and you are so very correct. What a wonderful place to hang out and remember and what a wonderful place to teach the young folks. In a little over two months, on September 12th, the Augusta International Raceway Preservation Society (AIRPS) is going to hold its 6th Annual event at the former track here in Augusta. I bring this up because we have invited Jeff and the RacersReunion Network to this event. They will have center stage in a 60,000 square foot air conditioned facility that sits right next to the former pit lane at the track and our hopes are that the RacersReunion group will add to the Historic/Vintage racing yearly "convention" that takes place here in Augusta. In all honesty the former Augusta complex lags behind some of the other tracks in history but the modern day facilities are tops in the developing Historic/Vintage arena of events. In the future these annual events will host a golf tourney at the course that will be built at the former track. Tennis events will be held at the brand new courts just built next to the former front straight. A camp ground will soon be constructed along with soccer fields and of course there will be an annual basketball tournament in the air conditioned gym that is already on site. But, the main reason for the annual event is for the fans, drivers and support personnel of this great sport. And, it is open and free to the public. Our group enjoys bringing together Rex White, Frank Warren and the host of other drivers each year and what a joy to see drivers and fans having a day of pure enjoyment! It does not get any better than this.So stay turned here at RacersReunion as we get closer to September 12th and bookmark www.augustavintagenationals.com for updates on the event.
Johnny, it does the same thing to me...lol. I'm glad you enjoy the site. There are some great things yet to come...as we search high and low for the badly needed funding to add new features. It is one of my goals for the site to become "racing history central". We also want to support local race tracks and fans...because they are the grass roots of the sport. Thanks very much for the support, Johnny..and thank you for your contributions to the sport!!!Jeff
Henry...we'll be there! I'm looking forward to it!
