making the cut to augusta this year
If remember right right I dont think there is a limit to the number of breathing, loving racing and old geesers that can show up at the get together at the old stomping grounds in Augusta in September. I would personally like to see a record crowd up there this year,Our sport needs all the support it can get and what better way to show it ---JUST SHOW UP--- that would give Tim,Jack,Jeff and a lot of the media something to talk or write about, just think wouldnt be cool to have a short video on national tv now that would be a start dont you think!! Old D.W. might even come down to see what all the ruckus is all about..Think about it YALL COME ON DOWN NOW YOU HEAR-----memories
Johnny, we had the AIRPS monthly meeting today and we are EXCITED about RacersReunion and motorsport fans in general coming to Augusta. The ten foot tall 40,000 pound granite memorial sitting in the "5Wkids Outdoor Learning Area" at Motorsports Memorial Plaza has new landscaping and the names of over 200 drivers are proundly being displayed. The 60,000 square foot air conditioned facility with modern restrooms that will be headquarters for the event will be spotless and the former pit lane just behind the new facility will be packed with vintage race cars on display.Fans will enter the event via the front straight of the former Augusta International Raceway and they will pass streets named for Glenn "Fireball" Roberts, Frank Warren, Weldon Adams, Dave MacDonald and others. You can even bring family members that are not as racing red blooded as us and they can enjoy this 300 acre park that includes ball fields, tennis courts, walking tracks and play grounds. Heck, bring a fishing pole and dip a hook in the ponds on site. Our organization has been preparing for years to have the opportunity that RacersReunion has presented.Heck, if ya'll are up to it we will walk the former three mile road circuit after the event. "Fireball" won his last race at this track that is bigger than Daytona and is still in place and will soon be paved for walking and biking. We are ready so "Call in the dogs and put out the fire" as the 6th Annual Augusta Vintage Nationals is going to happen on September 12th!We will have the normal AIRPSunshine! If anyone needs directions or the GPS coordinates go to: www.augustainternationalraceway.com or www.augustavintagenationals.com and click on the "directions" button.

Here is a layout of the event site.Yep, AIRPS has the Diamond Lakes Community Center reserved from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM and after that we still have access to over 300 acres of Diamond Lakes Regional Park so if fans want to hang around, picnic and tell tall tales and do a track walk or partial track walk that is fine with our group. And DO bring a camera.Keep in mind Daytona International Speedway will fit inside this monster track.
thanks for the info henry,i was there when it was an operating faculity so it will be something to see in today format
