This is about a friend I had back in Warner Robins Ga.He was first a cop/fireman in town but that was not where he shined in my book,he was a lover of old cars and racing. We actually started racing together in the early 60's at crazy 8 speedway where he along with my dad and the Brown's and Davis's started building some unique carsStewart Seymore (Stew) as I called him built a 39 chevy he affectionately called Ro-Ho after that chicken. Well that car was fast, especially with Charlie Burnette at the wheel we usually just chased it. But above that Stew was passionate about his work on cars,he built me my first car I could go racing big tracks with.He continued along that path when I drifted out of town chasing that dream I didnt see much of Stew and the bunch.Fast forward to around 2000 and Bob Moore and Stew got a new bug building old old racers .They built a bunch of old modified at their shop that started the NVRA clubBob Moore found the old car of Speedy Morelocks in Ok and brought it back to middle Ga where it was originally from.Well the car that was at this years A I R reunion was that old sprint car that was rebuilt with tender love by Stew and Bob in their shop in Warner Robins . This is being posted because of the conversations Bob Moore and myself had about our close friend we both dearly miss since his passing a couple three years ago.I am attaching a couple of pictures that was taken Saturday and one with "Stewart Seymore" sitting in the Speedy Morlock Special. Some Friends are gone now and that makes these memories that more special-----------------------------------------memories
Johnny, Bob has been a friend of our project here in Augusta for many, many years. In fact he was instrumental it getting AIRPS the initial funds to begin the "5WKids Outdoor Learning Area" in Motorsports Memorial Plaza at Diamond Lakes Regional Park. We would have gotten everything in place, but he helped us get it there a lot quicker.Bob has actually offered his car collection for display at the public Augusta International Raceway Museum when it is constructed at the former track being developed into Diamond Lakes Regional Park. Thanks Bob and you know I enjoy and listen to your wisdom!
only thing i wish that could have been different was to have the old sprint car setting in front of the wall with bob moore setting in it . i can make the picture happen but it would not be authentic after i used photo shop ---------------------- God how I miss all the old guys--- I guess thats the reason the ones of us that are left should make a real effort to document the days of yesteryear so our future drivers can look and say "so thats how that was done"-----------------------------memories
